How fast is lexus ct200h

Deciding that my first outing should focus on efficiency, I twisted the dial to Eco and took off. Well, "take off" may be too dramatic in describing the very gradual acceleration. I can understand detuning the throttle to mitigate a lead foot, but I practically had to floor the gas pedal to make the CT h move in this mode. The throttle response was, I felt, too anemic. Later, when driving on the freeway in Eco mode, I found it difficult to maintain 65 mph. The car seemed to always want to drop 10 mph off my intended speed.

Moving to Normal drive mode, the instrument cluster illumination went from green to blue and the throttle became more tractable. That's not to say it felt powerful, but at least the CT h could get out of its own way. One trick that helped initial acceleration was the electric motor integrated into the drivetrain. Its instant torque added a little pep to my starts. The hybrid drivetrain worked brilliantly, bringing up the engine as needed and wasting almost no gasoline for idling.

The transmission, a planetary gearset that mixes power from the engine and motor to drive the front wheels, works completely seamlessly, so that I never felt different power sources taking over. Likewise, Lexus does a fine job insulating the cabin from engine noise, so there's very little disturbance when the engine cranks up. The hybrid system is particularly adept at handling slow traffic, making the creep and crawl of a traffic jam tolerable. Another thing Lexus does extremely well is tune comfortable suspensions.

F Sport in the CT h means the suspension is tuned for handling, but that doesn't wreck the ride quality. Over rough city streets, the car absorbed bumps and kept cabin jostling to a minimum. It felt superior in quality over a typical hatchback, helping to justify its premium segment pricing. At the same time, the steering wheel, controlling an electric power-steering system, felt responsive.

The car matched my inputs neatly, and the wheel offered enough heft for a natural feel. As an aid to my meanderings in the CT h, the navigation system performed very well, showing the worst traffic jams and providing easy-to-follow route guidance. For destination input, voice command was as modern as they come, letting me say an entire street address and processing it correctly. But where Lexus cabin tech really shines is with its Enform app suite. With my phone running the Enform app and connected to the car through Bluetooth, I could choose "Web Search" as one of my destination options and select either Bing or Yelp, both online services built into the car.

Instead of burying these services under an Apps menu, as in other Lexus vehicles, they live in the destination menu. I was really blown away to find that, using the voice-command button on the steering wheel, I could use voice to start destination searches in Bing and Yelp.

I was also impressed to find the music apps located on the audio-sources screen for the stereo. Each model will come with a new set of F-Sport 17" alloy wheels in a Liquid Silver finish.

The exterior will be further distinguished by a unique front mesh grille, a larger rear spoiler, and an F-Sport exterior badge. The interior of the F-Sport Special Edition also gets a number of additions including Ocean Blue NuLuxe trimmed seats, black F-Sport floor mats with blue contrast stitching, metal front scuff plates, and aluminum sport pedals. Metallic trim was then added to the dash panel, highlighting the black headliner.

The interior is completed with a perforated leather-trimmed steering wheel with F-Sport logo and a leather-trimmed shift knob. Make no mistake, Lexus has continued to dominate the luxury hybrid market so there really was no reason for them to veer off course with the model. Just imagine the possibilities of a CT with a real noise-maker of an engine. After all, Lexus still has to cover their bases in the right market. During start-ups and braking, the CTh will only use its electric motor, saving all the energy expended by the VVT-I engine for higher speeds.

Even more impressive about the car is that it will require less fuel and will emit less carbon dioxide and NOx gases compared to all other race cars of its class. The car was introduced at the New York Auto Show where Fox Marketing showed off the reworked Japanese hot hybrid hatch with a new Eaton supercharger and a Climax Racing intake manifold. And just to give it more aesthetic spunk, Fox also dressed up the car with some new duds.

On top of the metallic burnt orange paint, the aftermarket company gave the CT h a wide body kit with three-inch fender flares, a set of Yonaka racing seats, and LED Lexus logos on the door panels.

This particular tuner knows a thing or two about tuning Lexus models simply because they are well known for the partnership they have with Toyota and Lexus. So far, we only have a sketch of the concept revealed by Five Axis, but it allows us to get an idea of the special vehicle that is scheduled to be revealed at the Chicago Auto Show in just a few days!

The Lexus CT h by Five Axis will be showcasing some serious custom aerodynamics, a Tein suspension, inch wheels, Stoptech brakes, and a custom touch-screen interface. Not sure how this hp engine setup will go over with the younger crowd, but thinking "green" is such a fad nowadays that aesthetics improvements just may be enough to win them over.

The Tokyo Motor Show gathers all kinds of tuned-up vehicles, be they sports cars, hybrids, or the more regular models. The Japanese tuner is now offering a pretty impressive tuning kit for the sports hybrid that includes some nice exterior updates. Okay, so maybe the exterior updates are the only things Modellista added to the CT h, but they still transform the vehicle quite nicely.

All the car needed was a front bumper add-on element, a set of side skirts, a modified rear apron and a new exhaust layout to get it looking like a brand new machine. A new set of 18" wheels, LED fog lights, and some chrome elements top off the package and complete the look.

The total output delivered by the hybrid system is HP. The Lexus LF-Ch concept combined stylish design cues with full hybrid drive train in a practical 5 door compact package that would fulfill the needs of even the most demanding of premium compact customers with its bolder Lexus grill sitting atop a deep, bulging front bumper complete with a trio of intakes giving it a perfect balance of both precision and power.

While the sharply sculpted, aerodynamic front fenders flow into the front bumper to create a wide set of arches and a deep set of brake cooling ducts that give the LF-Ch a powerful and purposeful stance. The car will make its world debut next week at the Geneva Motor Show and will enter production at the end of Optional packages are also available depending on what options you get.

Check it out by clicking on the picture above! In a crowd of five customized hybrid models, each an attempt by Lexus to prove that hybrids can also be fun to drive, the CT h F-Sport is the best example of this mission. Ironically, the best example of this idea is also only going to be a concept, according to Lexus , as they say they have no plans on producing the F-Sport. The whole package is finished by F Sport 18x8. That model is the CT h F Sport which is basically the same hybrid hatchback, but with a few more enhancements to help it look more like a sports car.

Performance and exterior enhancements include a unique suspension, front and rear styling, alloy wheels, and badging. Inside, the F Sport model CT h will receive an optional unique interior trim, an F Sport steering wheel, sports pedals, scuff plates, instrument panel, and privacy glass.

The hybrid system under the hood remains unchanged: a 1. Lexus is talking their marketing to a whole new level with the continued launch of the Lexus CT h Hybrid. Their latest effort is a 12 minute and 30 second action film that has just been released today.

The film features actor Norman Reedus Boondock Saints franchise behind the wheel of the CT h while you, the consumer, call every automotive shot imaginable. Yes, Lexus has given the consumer the wheel. Dave Nordstrom describes the online experience:. Not only will the consumer be calling the shots, they also get to insert themselves into the film with the use of a webcam or photo. Consumers can also record their own dialogue lines, control the camera movement and POV, and make decisions that alter the path of the Lexus CT h Hybrid.
